Spring marks the beginning of kitten season when people start seeing cute little stray kittens in their gardens and around dumpsters behind stores and restaurants. It’s a time when people who did not get their female cats spayed find a little mewing surprise under the bed or in the closet. If these kittens are born in Bloomingdale, Butler, North Caldwell, Pompton Lakes, Ringwood, Riverdale, or Wanaque they will probably end up at BASS. The influx of kittens throughout spring and summer puts an increased burden on the shelter financially and also through the emotional and physical strain of the employees and volunteers who have to care for the kittens until they are adopted and find their forever homes. Having a leisurely and delicious brunch is a great way of supporting the shelter through this busy time.
