Become a B.A.S.S. Volunteer

Requirements for a volunteer

To work with the dogs:

• Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
• Dog handlers and walkers are required to take and pass the B.A.S.S. dog training class. (There is no cost for these classes. Your time volunteering with the shelter is our reward.) The class requires at least 3 hours for instruction and completion. Please contact us for a current class schedule.

To work with the cats:

• Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Applicants who are 14 and 15 years old must be accompanied by a
  parent/adult supervisor.
• Volunteers will receive proper training and orientation at the shelter upon starting their service.

Volunteer service shifts and hours

Our volunteer crew share specific daily duties everyday. Our regular shifts are:

Monday through Friday

Morning: 9am to 11am

Evening: 4pm to 6pm

Saturday and Sunday

Morning: 9am to 11am

Afternoon: 2pm to 4pm

Evening: 4pm to 6pm

Dogs: Feed, walk, thoroughly clean kennels  
Cats: Feed, thoroughly clean habitats

We are happy to have volunteers for any shifts and duties, but we are in great need of volunteers for the weekday morning and evening shifts.
